NeoGen Plasma in Doncaster

Date: Oct 24, 2026

What is NeoGen Plasma?

As we age, our skin gradually loses collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for maintaining its firmness, elasticity and structure. Sun exposure, hormonal changes, genetics and lifestyle can also contribute to fine lines, uneven skin tone, changes in texture and skin laxity.

At Nicola Poskitt Medical Aesthetics, I believe in evidence-based treatments that support natural-looking results. One technology offering a different approach to skin rejuvenation is NeoGen Plasma.

NeoGen is an advanced nitrogen plasma treatment designed to stimulate the skin’s natural regenerative processes. It uses controlled thermal energy to encourage remodelling within the skin, helping improve firmness, texture and overall skin quality over time.

Unlike injectable treatments, which work through the delivery of specific substances into the skin or underlying tissues, NeoGen uses energy to stimulate a biological response. This makes it an option worth considering for people who want to address visible signs of ageing without relying solely on injectables.

NeoGen can be used to target a range of concerns across the face and body, including fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, uneven pigmentation and acne scarring. The treatment can be tailored according to the area being treated, individual skin concerns and desired results.

How does NeoGen Plasma work?

NeoGen uses medical-grade nitrogen gas, which is converted into plasma. This plasma delivers controlled pulses of thermal energy to the skin.

The heat stimulates a regenerative response within the tissue, encouraging dermal remodelling and the production of collagen and elastin. These proteins help support the skin’s structure, firmness and resilience.

As the skin responds to treatment, changes can develop in several ways:

  • Collagen stimulation: Supports firmer-looking skin and improvements in skin laxity.
  • Improved skin texture: Helps soften the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture and selected types of scarring.
  • Skin tone: Can improve the appearance of selected pigmentation and sun-damaged skin.
  • Skin quality: Encourages gradual improvements in the overall appearance and texture of the treated area.

One of the key features of NeoGen is its adjustable energy settings. Lower-energy treatments can be used to build results progressively, while higher-energy treatments aim to produce more significant remodelling and may involve a longer recovery period.

Importantly, treatment intensity is not simply about choosing the strongest setting. The appropriate approach depends on your skin, medical history, treatment area and expectations.

NeoGen is supported by published clinical research, although individual results vary, and no treatment can guarantee a particular outcome.

What skin concerns can NeoGen Plasma treat?

NeoGen is a versatile skin regeneration treatment that can address several concerns. Suitability depends on the condition being treated and the treatment protocol used.

1. Skin laxity and loss of firmness

Skin laxity is a common concern as we age. It can become particularly noticeable around the lower face, jawline, neck and décolletage.

By stimulating collagen remodelling, NeoGen may help improve the appearance of loose or crepey skin and support a firmer-looking complexion.

It is important to have realistic expectations. NeoGen is not a surgical facelift, and significant skin excess may require a different approach.

2. Fine lines and wrinkles

Fine lines can develop around the eyes, mouth, forehead and neck as collagen and elastin gradually decline.

NeoGen can target facial and non-facial wrinkles by encouraging changes within the skin’s supporting structures. Improvements develop over time as the skin regenerates.

For patients seeking a refreshed appearance without dramatically changing their facial features, this may form part of an individualised skin rejuvenation plan.

3. The delicate eye area

The skin around the eyes is thinner and often shows signs of ageing earlier than other areas of the face.

NeoGen can be used to address selected concerns around the eyes, including fine lines, wrinkles and skin laxity. Treatment near the eyes requires appropriate training, careful assessment and adherence to the device’s safety protocols.

A consultation will help determine whether NeoGen is appropriate for your particular concerns.

4. Uneven skin tone and sun damage

Cumulative sun exposure can contribute to uneven pigmentation, changes in skin texture and visible signs of premature ageing.

NeoGen may improve the appearance of selected pigmented lesions and sun-damaged skin. However, not every pigmentation concern is suitable for treatment, and some conditions require medical assessment before any aesthetic procedure.

Any new, changing or suspicious pigmented lesion should be assessed medically rather than treated as a cosmetic concern.

5. Acne scarring and uneven texture

Acne can leave changes in the skin long after active breakouts have settled. Depending on the type of scarring, these changes may include depressions, uneven texture and areas of reduced skin quality.

NeoGen can stimulate remodelling within the dermis, helping improve the appearance of selected acne scars.

A clinical assessment is important because different scar types respond differently to treatment. NeoGen is intended to improve the appearance of scarring rather than guarantee complete scar removal, and it is not a substitute for appropriate treatment of active acne.

Who is suitable for NeoGen Plasma?

NeoGen may be suitable for adults who want to improve their skin quality and address visible signs of ageing or selected skin conditions.

You may wish to consider a consultation if you are concerned about:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Loss of skin firmness around the face, jawline or neck.
  • Crepey skin and changes in skin texture.
  • Selected pigmentation and sun damage.
  • Acne scarring.
  • Age-related changes in the delicate eye area.

It may also appeal to people who want to explore a non-surgical approach to skin rejuvenation.

However, being suitable for a treatment is not determined by age alone. Your skin type, medical history, medications, previous procedures and expectations all matter.

During a consultation, I would assess your skin, discuss your goals and explain whether NeoGen is appropriate or whether another treatment would be more suitable.

Who should not have NeoGen Plasma? Contraindications and precautions

Although NeoGen offers a versatile approach to skin regeneration, it is not suitable for everyone. A thorough medical history and skin assessment are essential before treatment.  Depending on your circumstances, treatment may be contraindicated, postponed or require additional pre treatment.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

NeoGen treatment is contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Active skin infection or inflammation

Treatment should not be performed over an active skin infection or an area with an unresolved inflammatory condition that could increase the risk of complications. This includes assessing concerns such as active cold sores in the treatment area.

Pacemakers and electronic implants

Certain electronic implants, including pacemakers and implanted defibrillators, may make treatment unsuitable. This must be checked against the device’s instructions and your individual medical circumstances.

A history of keloid or abnormal scarring

People who develop keloid scars or have a history of abnormal wound healing require careful assessment. The risk of an undesirable healing response must be considered before proceeding.

Recent isotretinoin treatment

If you have recently taken oral isotretinoin, commonly known by the brand name Roaccutane, treatment may need to be delayed. The treatment can usually be considered after six months of stopping the medication.

Autoimmune conditions, immune suppression and impaired healing

Certain autoimmune conditions, immune-suppressing medications and conditions that affect wound healing may increase the risk of complications or affect recovery. These do not all represent automatic exclusions, but they must be discussed during your consultation.

Medications and recent aesthetic treatments

Some medications, including certain photosensitising medicines, and recent procedures may affect suitability or timing. Make sure that all prescribed medication, over-the-counter products, supplements, skincare actives and recent injectable or energy-based treatments are disclosed.

This is not an exhaustive list of contraindications. Your medical history and the manufacturer’s current safety guidance will determine whether treatment can safely proceed.

What happens during a NeoGen Plasma treatment?

Your appointment begins with a consultation to review your concerns, medical history, skin condition and expectations.

If NeoGen is appropriate, your practitioner will explain the proposed treatment intensity, expected recovery, possible side effects and aftercare. The treatment itself involves delivering controlled pulses of nitrogen plasma to the selected area.

The sensation and experience vary according to the treatment settings and area being treated. Your practitioner will explain what to expect and whether any preparation is needed.

You should never feel pressured to proceed if you are unsure. Understanding the benefits, limitations and risks is an important part of making an informed decision.

What is the recovery time after NeoGen Plasma?

Recovery depends on the energy level, treatment area and individual healing response.

Lower-energy treatments generally involve less downtime, while higher-energy treatments can produce a more noticeable inflammatory response and require a longer recovery period.

After treatment, you may experience redness, warmth, swelling, sensitivity, dryness or changes in skin appearance as the skin heals. The exact recovery pattern will be explained before your appointment.

It is important to follow your aftercare instructions carefully, avoid picking or rubbing the treated area, use the recommended skincare and protect your skin from ultraviolet exposure with appropriate broad-spectrum SPF.

Your practitioner will advise when to resume active skincare ingredients, exercise and other treatments. Do not assume that every NeoGen protocol has the same recovery time.

When will I see results from NeoGen?

NeoGen works by stimulating the skin’s natural regenerative processes, so results develop progressively rather than appearing all at once.

Some changes may be noticeable earlier, but improvements in firmness, fine lines and texture can continue as collagen remodelling takes place over the following weeks and months.

Most patients will require an initial course of treatments depending on the treatment intensity, skin concern and desired outcome.

Your results will also depend on factors such as age, baseline skin quality, lifestyle, sun exposure and aftercare. A consultation is the best way to establish realistic expectations for your skin.

Is NeoGen Plasma worth considering?

If your main concerns are skin laxity, fine lines, uneven texture or selected acne scarring, NeoGen may be worth exploring as part of a personalised skin rejuvenation plan.

Its ability to deliver controlled nitrogen plasma energy at different intensities allows treatment to be adapted to individual concerns and recovery preferences.

However, no single treatment is right for everyone, and multiple sessions may be required to maintain results.

My philosophy is to recommend treatments based on clinical suitability and realistic outcomes for the patient.
